SAQR Sriharikota-Chennai local chapter was inaugurated on 18th September,2025 at SDSC-SHAR by Dr Somnath Sir, then SAQR President and former ISRO Chairman.After the formal inauguration of local chapter, one-day workshop with Lecture Series in Quality & Reliability in different domains was conducted on 19th September,2025.
On the occasion of superannuation of local chapter founder President and Deputy Director Systems Reliability, Dr. T V Ramana Reddy, proposal for conducting the SAQR Workshop at SDSC SHAR on 25th August 2026 was submitted to Secretary, SAQR and the same was cleared in SAQR Executive Committee Meeting.
On 25th Aug 2026, Dr. T V Ramana Reddy, DD-SR & President SAQR Local Chapter welcomed the Dignitaries, Experts from External organizations & Industry andParticipants for the “workshop on Aerospace Quality & Reliability".
Sri. P. Sunil, Deputy Director, Range Operations (RO) & Vice President, SAQR formally welcomed the gathering with opening remarks on the importance of workshop & SAQR activities.
Sri. G. Ramesh Babu, Associate Director, SDSC SHAR welcomed the gathering with keynote address on the importance of quality & reliability at SDSC and wished the participants to enlighten by the workshop.
Sri. S. Muthuchezhian, Director, SDSC SHAR welcomed the gathering with presidential address emphasizing the role of quality, reliability & safety and ZeeDP2.0 in day-to-day activities at SDSC SHAR i.e. production of Solid rockets, testing of space worthiness, infrastructure facilities & Launch services for accomplishing the ISRO missions.
Around 200 members participated in the Workshop, including SAQR members & Centre nominated members for program in offline mode, Online SAQR members & webcast was provided for the benefit for online participation within SHAR & PCR. Overwhelming response was received from the participants on the challenges faced in various areas.
The following are the glimpses of invited guest talks delivered on 25th Aug 2026 at SDSC SHAR:
Shri. Sreelal Sreedhar, former AD, GTRE, invited talk on “Experiences in R&QA in Multi-disciplinary fields” explaining the various quality & reliability challenges faced during the design, manufacturing, testing & handling of turbo engines.
Dr. Seema Chopra, Executive Director, Boeing, invited talk on “Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning” with an overview on how the Boeing making using of Artifical intelligence technology in their systems for fault prediction & prevention, training of new employees & gathering the knowledge of experienced technical staffs.
Dr. G. Mallikarjuna Rao, Director, R&QA, RCI, invited talk on “Missile Flight Control Law” delivered an insightful lecture covering the control systems basics to missile flight control laws.
The workshop is concluded with Vote of Thanks by Sri K Koteswararao, Secretary, SAQR Local Chapter & GH/SR.
